Two affiliated companies, six bank accounts, 20–50 cheques a day and over a hundred at month-end. The team opened each statement, matched every cheque to a billing note or payment voucher by hand, then keyed it into the ledger — most of a working day, every day, with someone always tied to it.

A bot now runs the whole cycle each morning: pull the cheque records from email and statements, split receipts from payments, match the documents, post to the ledger, reconcile all six bank accounts and email the approver at each company. Only exceptions reach a person, and every cheque carries an audit log. Cycle time fell 94%, and two accountants moved on to higher-value work.

In FutureSkill's formal evaluation, all nine criteria scored 4.38 or higher. The top marks went to "sparks original thinking" and "invites questions and answers them clearly" (4.54 each), followed by "gets participants thinking and taking part" (4.50).
